I'm no Hollywood angel,
I'm a danger to myself.
I got a nasty mean streak,
got no use for no one else...

I got a backstreet mojo;
won'tcha come an' be my lover?
Be my outa pocket sweetheart,
send me runnin' under cover.

Since you asked me that question
I'm gonna tell you no lies,
I'm gonna spit out the truth
so shut your lyin' cryin' eyes...

I'm gonna clear off some space,
gonna take you for a ride,
keep my finger on your trigger,
make you feel all good inside...

Get a piece of my action,
I'm what doctor prescribed.
Wash over me now baby,
feelin' won't be denied...

Gonna crank up your motor,
gonna climb up on your good side...

...put the pedal to the metal...
be my Hollywood good time.

There now, don't you feel all special inside?

Author's Comments

Here are some rock lyrics that kicked around my journal in one form or another for some time. The inspiration for this thing came from copious quantities of Corona and lots of very loud music; there's nothing here but joyous noise, gear-grinding speed, and a double dose of lascivious lust. This song is derivative (is Rock 'n Roll not the most derivative of art forms?), it bursts with hackneyed clichés, and I'm pleased to say that it has no redeeming social or moral value whatsoever.

Wow...quite a change from that I've been reading of your so far but I like...
Ohter than your name being Mike, I really know nothing about you but I'm taking bits and pieces from your writing and art and you seem to be a very intriguing individual. Wonderful job on the lyrics btw.

Wow Mike...
I like this a lot.

Very .. cliche ....
I like the funny side to this ... perhaps you didn't write it as beeing funny.. but it all depends on how one interpretes this ..
And I'm finding some lust in this .. along with some "take a ride on the wild side "....
Something said in a funny.. teasing way .. but meaning the truth .. if you know what I mean.

It also reminds me of Motley Crue ...

I'd floor that pedal and take you on a wild trip :)
*grin*

Yay, Motley Crue or GnR, which ever, its a good ol' rock song all the way!
I like it!
I've player guitar since my early days and no matter how hard I tried, I could never, ever write lyrics, so I say, good on ya mate!

Thanks so much, I'm glad you like it. I like to dabble in lyrics every so often, so far I have a couple of rockers, a couple of country tunes, some rockabilly, and a bit of blues thrown in. By the way, I find you to be an intriguing individual as well. :)

Thanks Gabbie. I'm glad you see the funny side, I definitely wrote it with some humor in mind. It's all so over-the-top cliché, and I love doing stuff like that once in a while. Sometimes music is just for fun, and too much thinking gets in the way. :)

Thanks so much my friend. You know, you might want to give lyrics writing another try if the mood strikes. I think your experience with poetry might give you a leg up. In my view, lyrics are just poetry set to music. :)

I'll leave that to folks like you, besides I don't play much anymore.... :blushes:

:iconmdog02:
Yeah, I guess that's true. =D Although I don't use a lot of it in my regular poetry, rhyming within a given rhythm structure comes naturally to me.

I've been to your new account briefly, and I'll spend more time there over the weekend. I'm looking forward to reading your horror story. You're speaking my language. :skull:

Cool...at least were on the same "intriguing" page. I just visited your mom's gallery and it moved me. The two of you must have had an awesome relationship. Her work is so heart felt, much like yours. I'll admit, I was touched while going through her gallery and imagining the two of you together. The spiritual/emotional bond that was there. Okay, I'll stop being all girlie but it really was a beautiful moment. Thanks for sharing something so precious to you with us!
